Built for students,
kept simple.

GPA Vault is a free set of tools for US college students. No accounts, no subscriptions, no data collection. Just calculators that work.

Why we built this

Every student has been there. It is the night before finals and you are frantically trying to figure out what you need to score on the exam to save your grade. Or you just got your semester results and you are wondering what happened to your cumulative GPA.

Most calculator sites are cluttered, slow or plastered with so many ads you can barely find the actual tool. We wanted something different: a clean, fast, honest set of tools that just work without getting in the way.

GPA Vault was built with one goal in mind. Give students the answers they need in seconds so they can get back to what actually matters.

Understanding GPA and why it matters

Your GPA, or Grade Point Average, is the single most watched number in your academic career. It determines whether you qualify for scholarships, whether you stay eligible for financial aid, whether graduate schools will consider your application, and in many cases whether you get an interview at competitive employers. A few tenths of a point can be the difference between keeping a merit scholarship and losing it, or between getting into a graduate program and being waitlisted.

Despite how much weight it carries, most students do not fully understand how GPA is actually calculated until they are already deep into their college career. The formula is not complicated, but the interaction between credit hours, letter grades, and semester weighting trips people up regularly. GPA Vault exists to make that math completely transparent so you always know exactly where you stand and what it takes to move the number.

The difference between semester and cumulative GPA

Your semester GPA reflects only the courses you took in a single term. It resets every semester. Your cumulative GPA is a weighted average of every course you have ever taken, with each semester weighted by the number of credit hours you carried. This is the number that appears on your transcript and that graduate programs and employers typically ask about.

Because cumulative GPA is credit-weighted, a single bad semester early in your degree does less long-term damage than most students expect. Equally, one great semester late in your degree when you already have 90 credits completed will barely move the needle. Understanding this relationship is exactly what the Required GPA Calculator is designed to help with it tells you in concrete terms what average you need going forward to hit any target GPA.

How GPA Vault protects your privacy

Every calculation on GPA Vault runs entirely in your browser. When you type your grades or credit hours, the math happens locally on your device using JavaScript. Nothing you enter is sent to any server, stored in any database, or logged in any way. We have no backend system that could receive your grades even if we wanted one.

This is a deliberate design choice. Your academic records are private. They should stay that way. You can use every tool on this site without creating an account, without giving us your email address, and without worrying about where your data goes. It goes nowhere. It stays with you.
