Why attendance requirements exist

How do I figure out how many total classes there are this semester?
Look at your course syllabus. Most professors list every class date or at minimum the start date, end date and how many times per week the class meets. You can also count the sessions on your school's academic calendar. A typical 16 week semester with a class meeting three times a week has around 48 total sessions.
Can excused absences save my attendance percentage?
